Ho Chi Minh City‘s tourism sector expects to welcome 4.1 international visitors and earn VND81,970 billion in revenue.
To achieve the target, it will focus on building the image of Ho Chi Minh City
as a friendly, attractive and safe destination, pushing through
administrative reform, and speeding up tourism growth on the basis of
international cooperation and effective competitiveness.
The city will make greater efforts to improve tourism services and human resource training.
In
2012, it received 3.8 million foreign tourists (up 8.5 percent against
2011 and 5 percent above its yearly target), accounting for 56 percent
of the total number of foreigners arrivals in Vietnam.
Tourism
earnings reached more than VND71 trillion (up 25.3 percent compared to
the same period last year), accounting for 44.5 percent of the country’s
total figure and about 11 percent of the city’s GDP.
